Heat rant and help please

As if things weren't bad enough with work, now I have to work under not very pleasant conditions!! you see I have no A/C where I am and it can get pretty hot!! Plus running in the chaos of Greek bureaucracy and trying to find an end to things is damn right impossible!!

- please sir go to the fisrt floor

- No sir here a the first floor we deal with that kind of matters only please go to the basement

- yes sir this is where you can file your papers but we need them to be verified so please make some photocopies and go to the 5th floor for signatures from the supervisor

By 5 o'clock where I usualy end work I am a mess!! too tired to do anything and in desperate need of a shower!! and the worst thing is that no vacations in the horizon just yet

oh well not all things are bad!! at least I am having fun at nights with my friends

Photography wise things are pretty stale but I have a couple of ideas but since I am venturing in a new world (portraits) I need some guidance from any people tha have at least some experience in the subject!!

Lets just say I have a black background and a model!! what would be the best light configuration???

and the same question if I have a white background!!

the equipment available is the built in flash of the camera!! an external speedlight flash and probably I can find a spot lamp or something!!!

If you do find out details about light configuration and such, please be kind and publish them.. I will soon venture into portait world myself !

Yeah, bureaucracy in Greece is a neverending nightmare! It's the best way to go nuts!

Well, about the lighting - it all dependes on your own personal style and how you want your photos to be.
Usually in the studio we use 2 to 3 lights with flash. But on the first shooting with me, we only had one and a reflector on the other side.
If you want check my photos and tell me which ones you prefer lighting-wise, and I'll tell you what we did and things to be careful of.
