We followed the river Nestos the following day down to its estuary. Another natural reserve and a heaven for birdwatchers. After one wrong exit at the highway and a few wrong turns at the river embankment we arrived at what was for me the most wonderful place we have ever been so far our trip. The day was windy cold, very cold, and the sky was dull and cloudless but that didn't matter at all. It is a very peculiar place where the river meets the sea and it changes every single day. It is a must visit if you ever find yourself in the area but keep in mind that for getting there you will need a 4 wheel drive. Or a car you can leave behind afterward!
With the sky being dull including too much sky would be a mistake. I framed the shot to get as much sky so that I wouldn't clip the sun star created by the lens. Used a 3 stop ND hard grad to control the highlights of the sky and took the shot. Simple as that.
