Woke up early as usual to go find a nice spot for the sunrise though it was pretty clear even from the time we woke up when it was completely dark, that the sun was going to be a no show. There was fog though and strangely enough I feel very comfortable with it even though I haven't had the chance to shoot very much with foggy conditions.
As we were walking along the lake's shoreline this pre-dawn blue was all around us since it was half an hour before sunrise. Needless to say that in this complete blueness the red glow of the candle inside this "lantern" did make a nice contrast.
For those of you unfamiliar with those kind of "lanterns", you can find them scattered all over the Greek roads and unfortunately they mark a place where a fatal accident has happened and someone lost his life. It is something like a small shrine that the relatives of the diseased erect in order to remember him/her.
Having this information in my mind the blue and the fog provided the perfect setting for a moody representation of this custom.
It's so blue and deep both phototechnical and in a metaphorical sense...
