Day 5
Continuing our trip to the west at the end of day 5 we ended up at the wonderful river Nestos in central Macedonia. We have arrived 2 hours before sunset exploring the scenery. Finally after a dull and cloudless day some clouds decided to make an appearance and all we had to do was to wait for the light. For a moment it looked as if it was going to be an anti-climax but having learned from my mistakes I decided to wait until it was completely dark. We were cold and waiting was not very pleasant, especially knowing that we haven't established a place to stay the night but it was worth the wait. Just before all light was gone the whole world exploded into pink. All I had to do was press the shutter release button. We were lucky that the waters weren't as high and we managed to walk into that sandy strip of land in the middle of the river. I didn't do the river justice cause I looked for a shallow part with relatively still waters so I can capture the reflection of the sky. The main body of the river is to the left of the picture flowing fast and deep. If you ever find your self in central Macedonia visit the this river. Its meanders are just breathtaking.
