This shot was taken early, way early on a Sunday morning I think. It was well before the sun reached the horizon just at the point where the cold colours of the night start to give way to the warm colours of the dawn.
This are the remains of an old windmill, a quite common view in rural Greece. in the old days they were very energy efficient and used the power of the wind to mill all sorts of stuff. A very environmental friendly solution sadly now practiced in very few places, while all the rest of the windmills are left to their fate. "A passage in time" was shot on the same day just a couple of minutes later when the sun was above the horizon still hidden behind the mountains though. It is a good example to see what effect 10 minutes apart can have in photography. I do have a similar shot when the sun was up and the colours were much warmer and even though I know dA starves for colours I like this one and I hope you do too Location: Town of Chios, Chios island, Greece *tech stuff Camera: Nikon D200 Lens: Tokina 12-24mm f/4 AT-X AF Pro DX @12mm Aperture: f/8 Shutter Speed: 4' ISO: 100 Flash: Did not fire VR: OFF Filters:HOYA ND400 (9 stop ND glass filter), LEE 0.9 (3 stop ND grad hard) Tripod: YES |

It can't rain all the time... but in Cornwall it'll have a bloody good go!
Color is great, but there's a lot to be said for the gentle and subtle.
Amazing capture!
